Skill Tree in Alien Invasyndrome
INT/STR planning and Demo unlock priorities.
The skill tree is the structured growth menu in Alien Invasyndrome Demo. Nesting and successful pressure grant the resources and access you need to specialize a weak larva into a more reliable infiltrator. This page explains how to approach the tree without treating every icon as mandatory. It is the featured systems page for Skills Hub.
18+ title; mechanical discussion only. Mozu Field / 百舌鳥; Shady Corner Games; Steam 4603980; full release TBA.
How the skill tree enters a run
Demo patch notes and player reports describe a Skill Tree menu for learning skills, with some acquisition events gated behind nest access (for example, charge-style tools becoming available after nest interaction rather than at minute zero). Practical rule:
- Establish a nest loop via How to Nest.
- Open the skill menu when the Demo allows learning.
- Buy a small cluster that matches your next room goal.
- Return to Atlas and test one change.
If labels look wrong because you forced a JP executable without proper locale tooling, fix that in Controls Hub before blaming the tree.
INT vs STR planning
Use INT/STR as a decision frame:
- INT-leaning plan: prioritize setup quality—better timing, safer approaches, less coin-flip peeks into Kitchen or Clinic.
- STR-leaning plan: prioritize commit success—finishing a capture window you already earned with position.
Hybrid is fine. Random is not. Before Security, write a six-point plan in Skill Planner and stick to it for at least two attempts.
WIP menu quirks (Demo)
Players have reported UI states that claim you can learn a skill again after the first unlock, plus other unfinished menu messaging. Treat those as WIP noise unless a patch note says otherwise. Track Updates Hub. Do not soft-reset a good nest because a tooltip looks haunted.
Charge-related actions have also been called out as acquisition-gated and occasionally buggy when mixed with stealth toggles. If a charge attempt fires at the wrong time after leaving stealth, abort the fight, take the detection penalty if needed (~1 minute hide tax), and retry cleanly. Detection theory: Stealth and Detection.
Unlock priorities for Demo clears
Priority A — survive Middle
Buy whatever in your build most reduces accidental reveals during Kitchen/Cafeteria transit. Map context: Key Rooms, Decks.
Priority B — stabilize nest commute
Skills that shorten exposed returns matter more than skills that look dramatic in a vacuum. Nest tools: Nest Checklist.
Priority C — Security readiness
Only after A/B, invest for the chokepoint. Read Security Room and pick A or B in Security Routes before spending “Security hope” points.
Priority D — boss / end-Demo pressure
Finish with How to Beat Boss and Demo Walkthrough. Do not empty the tree on vanity nodes before you can enter Security with an abort plan.
Skill tree and evolution
The tree is the menu; evolution is the identity. Actions can push different growth directions—see Evolution Paths. Early sequencing lives in Early Build. If those pages disagree with a new Demo build, trust the build + Updates Hub, then revise the planner.
Common skill-tree mistakes
- Spending before stealth literacy — How to Play first.
- Buying STR to fix softlocks — desks need exits, not muscle (Softlock Fixes).
- Respec-by-death — changing every node after each wipe prevents learning.
- Ignoring crew patterns — Characters Hub and Crew tell you which lanes punish your build.
- Skipping map commute math — Atlas Overview still matters after you “got strong.”
Practice protocol
- Silence Middle loop without new purchases.
- Buy one Priority A node.
- Repeat the same loop; record if detects drop.
- Buy one Priority B node.
- Attempt Kitchen-focused progress via Kitchen Route.
- Open planner and lock Priority C.
- Contest Security once.
Use Detection Timer when you are tilting into immediate retries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common Alien Invasyndrome questions.
When does the skill tree unlock in the Demo?
After you can access nest-gated progression in your build. Establish a nest loop first, then open the skill menu when the Demo allows learning.
What should I unlock first?
Survival consistency for Middle-deck transit, then nest-commute reliability, then Security-focused tools. See Early Build for a sequenced plan.
Why does the menu say I can learn a skill again?
Demo WIP behavior reported by players. Ignore duplicate-learn noise unless a patch note confirms a real respec system.
Do INT and STR have fixed mandatory routes?
No. Use them as planning axes, then confirm nodes in your build. Hybrid plans are fine if intentional.
Where can I plan spends without guessing in-run?
Use the Skill Planner tool, then validate with Early Build and Security Routes.
