Atlas Crew Patrol Roles

Adult stealth Demo — short notice

Alien Invasyndrome (Steam app 4603980) is an 18+ stealth-action Demo by Mozu Field / 百舌鳥, published by Shady Corner Games. You play a larva on Atlas. Crew members are the ship’s living alarm network. This page explains patrol roles in mechanical terms: sight lines, idle turns, room beats, and when to abort into a desk softlock. Adult scenes may exist in the Demo; we do not describe them.

Full release is TBA. Demo versioning often sits near v0.99.x — treat spawn timings as approximate and re-check after patches via Changelog.

What “crew” means here

“Crew” is the general human presence on Atlas: corridor walkers, room attendants, and open-floor watchers. They are not a single named boss. Their job in systems language is to:

  1. Sweep tiles with line-of-sight checks.
  2. Punish loud or greedy commits.
  3. Force nest banking between successful interactions.
  4. Teach the ~1 minute hide penalty after a clear spotting.

If you came here looking for a cast gallery, pivot to gameplay loops in How to Play and threat timing in Stealth and Detection. Sibling medical-wing detail lives on Doctor. Hub index: Characters Hub.

Patrol habits you should assume

Exact pathing can change between Demo builds, but successful larva players assume these habits:

  • Doorway checks — crew pause or glance when entering Kitchen, Cafeteria, or Laboratory approaches.
  • Idle turns — standing NPCs rotate enough to catch edge-of-cover movement.
  • Open-floor bias — Cafeteria and wide corridors favor the crew; desks and furniture favor you.
  • Post-noise curiosity — after a loud action, expect a short investigation window before the floor goes cold.
  • Multi-body rooms — two slow walkers beat one fast runner for your fail rate; plan softlocks before commits.

Practice a scout → commit → retreat → softlock loop until it is automatic. The Detection Timer tool helps you feel the hide minute instead of guessing.

Room-by-room crew pressure

Kitchen

Kitchen is often an early-mid routing classroom. Crew density teaches food-area sight lines without the full Security Room stake. Use Kitchen Route for linear steps; use this page to remember that Kitchen fails are usually “seen on the approach,” not “failed the interaction text.” Softlock early if a walker turns toward your last tile.

Cafeteria

Cafeteria punishes optimism. Open sight lines mean your hide furniture is the real ability, not STR. Cross the floor only with a desk plan. If detection spirals, leave, bank nest progress, and return later with better stealth nodes from Early Build.

Laboratory

Laboratory feels higher risk / higher reward. Crew here often sit behind later nest income. Do not treat Lab as a beginner sightseeing tour. Confirm nest checklist items in How to Nest and Nest Checklist before repeating Lab deaths.

Clinic approaches

Clinic corridor crew overlap with medical staff. For the doctor-specific read, open Doctor. For general patrols outside the bay, keep the same softlock discipline you use in Kitchen.

Security Room approaches

Security Room A / B branching is a Demo gate (Security Room, Security Routes). Crew pressure on the approach decides whether you enter with composure or with a broken nest economy. Character knowledge does not replace route pages — it keeps you alive long enough to use them.

Softlock as your crew answer

When crew attention spikes:

  1. Break line of sight immediately.
  2. Enter desk / furniture softlock.
  3. Wait out the detection hide window (~one minute after a clear spotting).
  4. Re-scout before re-committing.
  5. Bank nest progress if the room still feels hot.

If the UI dies or you cannot leave hide, that is a different class of problem — jump to Softlock Fixes. Do not mash STR hoping the crew forgets you.

INT vs STR against crew pressure

  • INT-leaning plans try to open options with less brute force and cleaner utility, depending on patch skill names.
  • STR-leaning plans push confrontational pressure when stealth windows shrink.

Neither replaces stealth basics. Dumping STR while still failing desk exits is the most common Demo mistake. Plan spends with Skill Tree and Skill Planner. Nesting remains the power curve — see How to Nest.

Encounter timing without adult detail

Some crew interactions are progression gates wrapped in adult framing. For wiki purposes, treat them as timed commits:

  • Scout until the patrol gap is real.
  • Commit only if a softlock tile is already chosen.
  • Retreat or hide when the gap closes.
  • Convert success into nest / skill progress, not sightseeing.

If an interaction is blocked by Japanese UI, fix readability with Locale Emulator and Keyboard Controls rather than guessing.

Deck context

Crew density changes with Top / Middle / Lower deck feel. Use Decks and Atlas Overview to place Kitchen, Cafeteria, Laboratory, and Clinic in the Demo slice. Do not assume full-release Atlas equals your current Demo map — Steam Status tracks wishlist / TBA framing.

Session drill (crew literacy)

  1. Pick one room (Kitchen or Cafeteria).
  2. Watch one full idle cycle without committing.
  3. Move one tile beyond comfort, then softlock on purpose.
  4. Wait the hide window; exit clean.
  5. Complete one real commit; bank nest.
  6. Stop the session if detection spirals — tilt is a systems failure, not a lore failure.

Common crew mistakes

  • Crossing Cafeteria without a desk plan.
  • Treating Laboratory as early game.
  • Ignoring doorway checks after Kitchen success.
  • Re-entering a hot room before the hide minute ends.
  • Studying only Demo Review videos instead of practicing softlocks.

Where to go next

Crew literacy is half the Demo. The other half is nest economy. Keep both sharp and Atlas stops feeling unfair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common Alien Invasyndrome questions.

Are crew members individual boss fights?

Usually no. Treat crew as patrol and detection systems. Security Room and boss pages cover Demo climax gates separately.

What should I do when crew spots me?

Break line of sight, softlock under a desk, wait about one minute, then re-scout. Use Detection Timer and Softlock Fixes if needed.

Which rooms punish crew mistakes hardest?

Cafeteria open floors and Laboratory risk spikes. Kitchen is the classroom; Security approaches are the exam.

Does STR let me ignore crew?

No. STR can help under pressure, but stealth softlocks and nest banking still decide stable Demo clears. See Early Build.

Where is the Clinic doctor covered?

On the sibling page Doctor, with route context in Key Rooms and Guides.
